Essential Oil Glass Cleaner

I think most of us grew up using that spray bottle of blue glass cleaner. That is the only kind I ever remember having around the house. To think that I could make a non toxic glass cleaner didn’t even cross my mind.

Why Make Your Own Glass Cleaner?

There are some safer alternatives in stores now, however making your own will let you control what is in it, and is a fraction of the cost.

You can also change out the essential oil to whatever scent you like. I used Sweet Orange Oil but any citrus oil will smell great and mask the scent of the vinegar.

I just started using essential oils recently, so I don’t have a lot of experience with different brands. At the advice of my sister, I gave the oils from Mountain Rose Herbs a try. They have an extensive amount of products to choose from, and so far I am liking everything I have tried.

Making your own glass cleaner also cuts down on the amount of waste because you are using a refillable glass bottle. No need to keep purchasing plastic spray bottles and throwing them away.

Non Toxic Glass Cleaner Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups Distilled White Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Distilled Water
  • 8-10 Drops Citrus Essential Oil
  • 16 ounce Spray Bottle

How to Make and Use

Combine all ingredients together and pour into the spray bottle.

Spray on mirrors, windows, or anywhere you would use a traditional glass cleaner. Wipe with a lint free towel or paper towel. I have also found that using a coffee filter leaves less streaks and no lint behind.
